The eye examination normally takes around 35 minutes and is pretty thorough, comprising the refraction (determination of the focus of your eyes), binocular function and eye health, including screening for eye disease such as glaucoma.
If you've never been to us before, expect the exam to take slightly longer, and please ensure that you bring along old glasses so that prescriptions can be compared.
Retinal photography is part of every eye exam now. Pupil-expanding drops may be necessary to get a good view of your retina. This usually only applies if you're over 50 or so.
Bring along a USB stick if you'd like an instant copy of the image of your retina.
