OVERVIEW

Our mission is to make luxury prescription eyewear more accessible, by offering a select range of high end products, excellent customer care, optical knowledge and experience at a very reasonable price.

Where we can, without breaking supplier agreements, we offer both optical frames and sunglasses and include prescription lenses free of charge, which equates to a saving of around £100 per pair. On other brands, such as Dita and Mykita, we offer Nikon lenses at reduced rates starting from £50 for multi-coated - still great value.

Buying glasses online is fairly straightforward. Once you've decided on the frame that you want, you'll need to choose the lenses. We've taken great care to make the ordering process as simple as possible, but there are a few points to note and it’s well worth taking the few minutes to read through the lens options below. Or you're very welcome to call us on 020 7813 1234 and place your order over the phone and ask anything you like.

LENS OPTIONS

REGULAR GLASSES

STEP ONE: CHOOSE LENS MATERIAL

To make life simple, we offer just two lens materials options: regular and thin. The regular lenses are made from 1.6 refractive-index material and we include them at no additional charge or, on certain brands that don't allow us to include free lenses, we charge £50. 1.6 lenses are thinner, flatter and tougher than 1.5 index and we'll make the decision as to which is most appropriate. (It depends on lens power, frame curve, etc. Most opticians charge £150 for a pair of 1.6 unbranded coated lenses - and we use Nikon).

Thin lenses - 1.67 index - are 40% thinner than 1.5 index and are an extra £50 per pair and are only necessary for higher prescriptions above ±3.00 dioptres. If you’re unsure, make your selection and we’ll advise you if we think we could do better.

STEP TWO: CHOOSE LENS COATING

High quality lenses have three types of coating: anti-reflection, anti-scratch and anti-smudge. Entry level non-coated lenses are not for us. Or you. Our inclusive lenses all have a Nikon multi-coating (anti-reflection and anti-scratch).

The super-coated lenses that we offer have superior reflection-free qualities and oleophobic nano-coatings too (which means that they smudge less easily!)

STEP THREE: SELECT IF YOU'D LIKE PHOTOCHROMIC

These are lenses that go darker with bright light. We only use the latest Transitions VI technology, which is the latest generation of photochromic lenses and are now available in either brown, grey or the new Graphite Green, which looks pretty cool.

STEP FOUR: PD (PUPILLARY DISTANCE)

Your PD is the distance between your eyes and is required so that we know where to position the optical centres of your lenses within the frame. If you know it, great. Otherwise, we can call your optician for you.

STEP FIVE: SUPPLY US WITH YOUR PRESCRIPTION

See YOUR PRESCRIPTION below.

PRESCRIPTION SUNGLASSES

STEP ONE: CHOOSE LENS MATERIAL

We offer two lens materials: regular and thin. The regular lenses are made from either 1.5 or 1.6 refractive-index material and we include them at no additional charge. 1.6 lenses are thinner, flatter and tougher than 1.5 index and we'll make the decision as to which is most appropriate. (It depends on lens power, frame curve, etc. - most opticians would charge £150 for a pair of 1.6 unbranded coated lenses - and we’ll use Nikon).

Thin lenses - 1.67 index - are 40% thinner than 1.5 index and are an extra £50 per pair and are only necessary for higher prescriptions above ±3.00 dioptres. If you’re unsure, make your selection and we’ll advise if we think we could do better.

STEP TWO: CHOOSE TINT TYPE

A solid tint is a standard sunglass tint in either brown, grey or grey/green.

Match original sunglasses tint will result in the lenses being custom-made to be exactly the same as in the original sunglasses, but with your prescription added.

Polarised lenses eliminate horizontal reflections and are available in brown, grey or grey/green.

STEP THREE: PD (PUPILLARY DISTANCE)

Your PD is the distance between your eyes and is required so that we know where to position the optical centres of your lenses within the frame. If you know it, great. Otherwise, we can call your optician for you.

STEP FOUR: SUPPLY US WITH YOUR PRESCRIPTION

See Your Prescription immediately below.

YOUR PRESCRIPTION

When you get your eyes tested, the optician is obliged to provide you with your spectacle prescription. If you have it on paper, please send a copy to us by uploading a photo of it on the ordering page or email it to info@adamsimmonds.co.uk.

You could ask the optician to email it to you and then forward it to us, or simply supply us with their name and address and we’ll make the call for you.

You may have noticed that we don't give you the option to input your prescription yourself. This is to safeguard against errors. There are three ways to provide us with your prescription details:

Upload Scan/Photo.Best option.

Contact My Optician. We're very happy to do this for you. We'll need your date of birth for verification.

Leave For Now.Select this option if you want to leave the prescription details for the time being, but please provide us with instructions as to what to do. For example, you may be getting your eyes tested shortly and you'll email the prescription in a few days.

Your PD is the distance between your eyes, the InterPupillary Distance. If you know it, please enter it in the PD box. Otherwise select Don't Know.

PLEASE NOTE that to be included within the quoted prices, your prescription needs to be within range. This means that your required lenses are as follows:

1. Single focus, i.e., not bifocal or varifocal/progressive.

2. Have a spherical power of 10.00DS or less. Powers greater than 10.00DS can be made but extra charges will apply and may not be suitable for dispensing online. We'll advise.

3. Have a cylindrical power of 2.00DC or less. Powers greater than 2.00DC can be made but extra charges will apply.
